For the most part, skunks are not going to come into your Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex home. That’s a plus, but if they’re living near your home, they can really wreak havoc, especially if you have a garden or pets. The Critter Stop team is here to help if you’re dealing a skunk, or a family of them, in your yard. We are happy to work with residents of Frisco, Denton, Lewisville, and communities throughout the DFW Metroplex. Our team of experts will come to your home, review the situation, and help you to make a plan to keep your house skunk free. To get started with a complimentary price quote, call our Southlake team. We look forward to hearing from you.
We very, very rarely see a case where a skunk gets inside of a home. If you have a large, open porch or decking system or outside access to crawl spaces, a skunk may get underneath your deck or your house itself, but this is rare. For the most part, they are content to live outside, but if you do hear sounds or smell the telltale sulfurous, burning scent of skunk spray, you should reach out to our team immediately.
While most skunks don’t get into the house, they can still do their fair share of damage outside of the home. They are sneaky, tricky, and destructive. The best and only way to free your home of skunks is to cut of their food source to encourage them to find food and shelter elsewhere. Outside of the home, you will see a number of warning signs that a skunk is making itself at home in your garden, including:
In many cases, skunks get trapped beneath the home, which can lead to death and foul odor. In these cases, we’ll remove the skunk, seal the access hole, capture any live skunks outside the home, and cut of their food source. Our traditional four step process is still followed. We seal the access, remove the animal, sanitize your home (this can be a lengthier process due to the acrid odor), and finally, we take the time to deter skunks from coming back to your house. This part of the process is especially important to truly solve your skunk problem. Unless you cut off their food sources and keep them away from the home, they’ll just keep coming back. The Critter Stop team can help you with all of your residential rodent and wildlife removal needs.
