Flower Mound Raccoon Removal

Raccoons, while often perceived as cute and mischievous, can actually pose a variety of problems when they come into close contact with human environments. These adaptable mammals are found in many urban and suburban areas, where their scavenging habits often lead them to rummage through trash cans, gardens, and even houses in search of food.

This behavior not only creates a mess but can also lead to property damage. Raccoons are known for their intelligence and dexterity, traits that enable them to open containers, remove shingles, or even tear through ventilation systems to gain access to food or shelter.

As raccoon removal experts, we know that beyond property damage, raccoons pose several health risks. They are carriers of various diseases, most notably rabies, which is a serious concern for both humans and domestic animals. Raccoons can also carry and spread other diseases like leptospirosis, roundworms, and fleas, which can affect both humans and pets.

Their feces can contain harmful parasites and spores that can lead to serious health conditions. Additionally, raccoons are territorial animals and can become aggressive if they feel threatened, especially when they have young nearby. This aggressiveness, combined with their disease-carrying potential, makes them a significant wildlife management challenge in many communities.

Identifying Signs of a Raccoon Invasion

Raccoons, known for their distinctive masked faces and ringed tails, are a common sight in many urban and suburban areas, including Flower Mound. While they may seem harmless, raccoons can become a nuisance, particularly when they invade homes and properties.

Recognizing the signs of a raccoon invasion is crucial for timely intervention and effective raccoon removal in Flower Mound. Early detection can prevent extensive damage and potential health risks associated with these critters. When we have provided raccoon removal services, we have found some signs of infestation, and here are some indicators to watch for:

Noises in the Attic or Walls: Scratching, rustling, or thumping strange sounds, especially at night, can be a sign of raccoons nesting in your home.

Damage to the Exterior of Your Home: Look for torn shingles, damaged soffits, or holes in the roof, as raccoons are adept climbers and can enter homes through these access points. Checking the outdoors of your home is a crucial step.

Raccoon Tracks: Their tracks are distinctive, with five toes on both the front and hind feet. Finding these tracks around your property can indicate their presence.

Overturned Garbage Cans: Raccoons are notorious for rummaging through trash. If your garbage cans are frequently tipped over or rummaged through, it's a likely sign.

Raccoon Droppings: These unpleasant poop can be hazardous to health and are often found near their nesting or feeding areas.

Pilfered Gardens and Lawns: Raccoons will often raid gardens for fruits and vegetables or dig up lawns in search of grubs.

If you notice any of these signs, it's important to contact a professional for safe and humane raccoon removal in Flower Mound. Prompt action can protect your property and health from the potential risks associated with raccoon invasions.

Unwanted Guests: Dealing with Raccoons in the Attic

The presence of raccoons in the attic is a common issue faced by many homeowners, and it can be both distressing and damaging. These nocturnal creatures are drawn to attics because they provide a warm, safe, and secluded space for them to nest, especially during the breeding season.

Once inside, raccoons can cause significant damage. They are known to tear up insulation, chew on wood and electrical wires, and create openings that can lead to water leaks and further structural damage. Moreover, their droppings can pose health risks, as raccoon feces can contain harmful parasites like roundworms. The noise of their nocturnal activities can also be quite disruptive, leading to sleepless nights for the inhabitants of the house.

Dealing with a raccoon infestation in the attic requires a careful and humane approach. It's important to first confirm the presence of raccoons, which can be identified by their distinctive tracks, droppings, and the sounds of their movement and vocalizations. Once confirmed, homeowners should seek professional assistance.

A qualified raccoon removal service in Flower Mound can provide safe and humane removal of these animals. These experts are equipped to handle raccoons effectively, ensuring that they are removed without harm and that all entry points are securely sealed to prevent future invasions. Additionally, they can advise on cleaning and repairing the damage caused by the raccoons, helping to restore the attic to a safe and sanitary condition. Remember, handling raccoons on your own can be dangerous and is generally not advised due to the risks of injury and disease.

Step-by-Step Guide to Trapping and Removing Raccoons

The process of trapping and removing raccoons can be challenging and requires a careful, step-by-step approach to ensure it's done safely and humanely. Raccoons, known for their intelligence and adaptability, often find their way into human habitats, leading to potential conflicts.

Whether they're rummaging through trash, making a home in your attic, or causing property damage, it's important to address the issue effectively. The cost for raccoon removal varies depending on the complexity of the situation, the methods used, and the service provider. However, it's a necessary investment to protect your property and health. Here are some essential steps in the raccoon trapping and removal process:

  • Free Inspection: At Critter Stop, we provide no-cost assessments directly in your home to tailor solutions for your specific challenges. Our thorough examination includes checking for signs of animal intrusion, nesting, and droppings, both inside and outside your home. After discussing the problem's scope and the necessary actions, we collaboratively formulate a strategic plan.
  • Seal Your Home: Our immediate focus is on securely sealing your home. Our exclusion team meticulously covers potential access points, from the roof down to the foundation. After ensuring no new raccoons can enter, we strategically place traps in areas where we suspect animal presence.
  • Remove The Racoonn: During this phase, our technicians will regularly visit your home to monitor the situation. If we've installed game cameras, we'll review the footage with you to analyze animal movement. After clearing the traps, we'll reset them and double-check all sealed entry points to confirm that no new openings have been made by the animals.
  • Restore & Sanitize: Our work extends beyond simply removing the pests. We undertake complete restoration of the impacted areas, including removing and replacing any damaged insulation. To ensure long-term protection, we also perform a thorough disinfection, targeting animal pheromones to prevent future infestations."

I’d give a 10 star review if I could! We had a great experience with Critter Stop. Everyone I dealt was friendly, professional, and reassuring. Phillip was very helpful and knowledgeable about the work he was doing. He walked me around the entire house to make sure I saw and understood the services he provided. He was also really nice and answered all my questions — he is exactly the type of person that should be interacting with customers.I love the fact that they will come back for up to 1 year after installation if any problems occur — this shows me they stand behind their work. The owner was great too, he personally came to my house and walked me through their offering. I recommend critter stop to anyone and everyone!

Critter Stop is a fantastic business! Everyone involved is extremely professional and very easy to communicate with. Chisam, the owner, did a great job of explaining the process to get the squirrels out of my attic during the initial free estimate. The exclusion crew who did all of the initial work was fabulous. The crew consisted of Phillip, Nick and Corey who arrived promptly when they said they would. They are happy, positive employees. Everyone is very polite and patient in explaining their work and answering questions. They came back several times to check the traps and finish it off with the fogging. Lester was very good about following up to schedule each trap check with me, and the office staff who took care of the billing was very efficient. Critter Stop is a well run company with honest, trustworthy employees! Thank you to all of you who worked hard to make my attic critter free and for the peace of mind that you guarantee your work. Great to know I can call them if for some reason a squirrel figures out a way to get back in!
