Highland Park Raccoon Removal

Raccoons, easily identified by their unique masked faces and agile paws, are fascinating yet often troublesome in human settings, particularly in urban and suburban locales. These clever, adaptable creatures are infamous for tampering with trash cans, encroaching on gardens, and boldly entering homes in search of sustenance.

Their actions can cause a range of problems, from minor nuisances to significant property damage. Raccoons excel at altering their surroundings to access food and shelter, skillfully opening garbage bins, removing roof tiles, and entering air vents, particularly during severe weather or breeding periods.

If you are looking for raccoon removal in Highland Park, our experts understand the broader implications of raccoon activities, including the risk of diseases like rabies, leptospirosis, roundworm infections, and fleas, all of which threaten human and pet health. Another major concern is raccoon feces, which contain harmful parasites and spores, posing a silent yet significant public health risk.

Raccoon infestation signs in Highland Park

In the serene community of Highland Park, the presence of raccoons, recognizable by their masked faces and ringed tails, is becoming increasingly noticeable. These animals, while often perceived as non-threatening, can become a significant problem when they start encroaching on residential and commercial properties.

Promptly recognizing the signs of raccoon activity in Highland Park is essential in averting extensive property damage and potential health risks. Drawing from our extensive experience in raccoon removal, we have compiled a comprehensive list of the most common indications of raccoon presence:

Visible Outside Damage: Raccoons are skilled climbers and can cause noticeable damage to structures. They often target roofs, trees, soffits, and building exteriors in their attempt to gain access. Regular inspections of these areas are crucial for early detection of such intrusions.

Distinctive Tracks: The unique, five-toed footprints of raccoons are a clear indicator of their presence, often found in soft ground or mud around properties.

Odors and Stains: Sometimes, the presence of raccoons can be less visibly apparent but detected through persistent odors or stains from urine or feces, which are telltale signs of frequent nesting spots within buildings.

Noises in Attics or Walls: As nocturnal creatures, raccoons frequently make their presence known by producing scratching, rustling, and thumping sounds during the night, particularly in less frequented spaces like attics, walls, and garages.

Tampered Trash Bins: One of the hallmark signs of raccoon activity is their tendency to rummage through garbage bins, usually leaving behind a scattered mess as they search for food.

Garden and Lawn Damage: Raccoons are known to cause significant disruption in gardens and lawns. They may dig up soil in search of grubs and other food sources, leading to noticeable damage to landscaping.

Signs of Nesting: In addition to auditory and visual damage indicators, the accumulation of nesting materials such as leaves, twigs, and other debris, especially in hidden areas like attics or under porches, can suggest raccoon nesting activities.

Raccoon Droppings: The presence of raccoon feces is not only a health hazard but also an indication of their feeding or nesting habits. These droppings can often be found near their nesting sites or feeding areas.

Understanding these signs and taking appropriate action can significantly reduce the likelihood of prolonged raccoon infestation in Highland Park. It's vital to stay vigilant and consider professional wildlife control services like Critter Stop for safe and effective raccoon removal to maintain the health, safety, and integrity of your property.

Raccoons in the Attic: What to do?

The occurrence of raccoons taking up residence in attics is a common issue faced by homeowners. These animals are drawn to the attic's warmth and privacy, particularly during their breeding seasons. The presence of raccoons in these spaces can lead to significant damage and a host of problems.

Extent of Damage Caused by Raccoons: Raccoons are known for causing substantial harm when they occupy attics. They have a tendency to tear apart insulation, gnaw on various materials, and leave behind hazardous droppings. These actions not only compromise the structural integrity of the attic but also lead to costly repairs.

Nocturnal Activities and Sleep Disturbance: Being active at night, raccoons can disrupt the household's peace with their movements and noises, often leading to sleep disturbances for the residents.

Health Risks Posed by Raccoons: A significant concern associated with raccoons in attics is the health risks they pose. The pathogens present in their droppings and urine can be hazardous, potentially causing a range of health issues. Furthermore, their habit of chewing on electrical wiring not only poses a fire hazard but can also lead to serious structural damage.

Steps for Homeowners: It's crucial for homeowners to remain alert to the possibility of raccoon infestations. Regular inspections of attics are essential to detect any signs of these animals early. Look for indicators such as droppings, signs of chewing, or disturbances in insulation.

Step by Step: Discover our raccoon trapping process

Our raccoon trapping service in Highland Park is designed to be comprehensive and meticulous, ensuring the highest standards of safety and effectiveness for both homeowners and wildlife.

The process initiates with a free, detailed inspection of your property. During this initial phase, our experienced professionals conduct a thorough evaluation to understand the extent of the raccoon problem and to identify potential entry points and areas of activity. This is crucial in tailoring a customized plan that specifically addresses the unique challenges and needs of your property. You will know the exact cost for raccoon removal after we finish the free inspection.

Following the inspection, we move on to securing homes against future raccoon invasions. This involves reinforcing potential entry points, such as vents, roof edges, and other areas that raccoons might exploit to gain access. By fortifying these areas, we greatly reduce the chances of future incursions. Next, we strategically set traps in key locations identified during the inspection. These traps are carefully chosen and placed to ensure the effective capture of raccoons while maintaining their safety and welfare.

Ongoing monitoring is a vital part of our process. We consistently check the traps, ensuring that any captured raccoons are promptly and safely removed. This step not only helps in the immediate resolution of the issue but also provides valuable insights into raccoon behavior and movement patterns, aiding in further preventive measures.

The final phase of our process involves the restoration and sanitization of areas affected by raccoons. We understand the health hazards posed by raccoon droppings and nesting materials. Therefore, we undertake a thorough cleaning and sanitizing procedure to eliminate any health risks, leaving your property safe and hygienic.

I’d give a 10 star review if I could! We had a great experience with Critter Stop. Everyone I dealt was friendly, professional, and reassuring. Phillip was very helpful and knowledgeable about the work he was doing. He walked me around the entire house to make sure I saw and understood the services he provided. He was also really nice and answered all my questions — he is exactly the type of person that should be interacting with customers.I love the fact that they will come back for up to 1 year after installation if any problems occur — this shows me they stand behind their work. The owner was great too, he personally came to my house and walked me through their offering. I recommend critter stop to anyone and everyone!

Critter Stop is a fantastic business! Everyone involved is extremely professional and very easy to communicate with. Chisam, the owner, did a great job of explaining the process to get the squirrels out of my attic during the initial free estimate. The exclusion crew who did all of the initial work was fabulous. The crew consisted of Phillip, Nick and Corey who arrived promptly when they said they would. They are happy, positive employees. Everyone is very polite and patient in explaining their work and answering questions. They came back several times to check the traps and finish it off with the fogging. Lester was very good about following up to schedule each trap check with me, and the office staff who took care of the billing was very efficient. Critter Stop is a well run company with honest, trustworthy employees! Thank you to all of you who worked hard to make my attic critter free and for the peace of mind that you guarantee your work. Great to know I can call them if for some reason a squirrel figures out a way to get back in!
