Natural Remedies for Ant Control

When it comes to controlling ants, many people prefer to use natural remedies instead of harsh chemicals. Here are some effective natural remedies for ant control:

Vinegar

One of the most versatile household items is Vinegar, which can have many purposes aside from the alimentary one, including ant control. Due to having a strong odor, vinegar confuses the ant's scent trail, and makes it difficult for them to find food and water. A correct measurement for you to use as a repellent for ants, is to mix in a spray bottle, equal parts of vinegar and water (1 cup of water, 1 cup of vinegar, to say a measurement) and spray around the areas where ants are present.

Boric Acid

Boric acid is a natural insecticide that is effective against ants. It damages their exoskeleton and dehydrates them. To use boric acid for ant control, mix it with sugar or honey and place it in areas where ants are present. The honey in the mixture will attract the ants and they will carry the mixture with boric acid back to their colony, killing the entire colony over time.

Diatomaceous Earth

Diatomaceous earth is powder made from the fossilized remains of aquatic organisms called diatoms. It is safe for humans to use and to use near pets (remember always check with your family doctor or veterinarian, when using certain supplies for extermination, or call us at Critter Stop) but deadly for insects like ants. When Ant’s they get in contact with Diatomaceous Earth, it damages their exoskeleton and dehydrates them, leading to their death. To use diatomaceous earth for ant control, sprinkle it around areas where ants are present.

Overall, natural remedies can be an effective and safe way to control ants. But remember, that natural methods take more time to be more effective or as quick as a chemical insecticide. If you have a severe ant infestation or are dealing with a species of ant that is resistant to natural remedies, it may be necessary to use chemical insecticides or seek professional help.

Chemical Methods

Chemical methods are highly effective, but when dealing with any chemical solution, remember to use them safely and responsibly, if not contact an expert, like Critter Stop, now here are two common options:

Store-bought Insecticides

There are a variety of insecticides available at most hardware and home improvement stores. Spray is the most common way to find these pesticides, but they do come in other forms like baits or granules.

When using insecticides, it is important to read and follow the product label instructions carefully. Make sure to wear gloves and protective clothing, and always keep children and pets and loved ones away from the area, until the product has dried or settled.

Professional Pest Control

One of the many cases when a professional serve must be hired, is when the ant ionfestation is severe or hard to control, in this case hiring a company like Critter Stop is a great relief, due to this professional services have access to stronger and more effective insecticides, and also they’re trained and know how to use them safely.

When choosing a pest control service, it is important to do your research and choose a reputable company with a good track record. Ask for recommendations from friends and family, and check online reviews before making a decision.

I’d give a 10 star review if I could! We had a great experience with Critter Stop. Everyone I dealt was friendly, professional, and reassuring. Phillip was very helpful and knowledgeable about the work he was doing. He walked me around the entire house to make sure I saw and understood the services he provided. He was also really nice and answered all my questions — he is exactly the type of person that should be interacting with customers.I love the fact that they will come back for up to 1 year after installation if any problems occur — this shows me they stand behind their work. The owner was great too, he personally came to my house and walked me through their offering. I recommend critter stop to anyone and everyone!

Critter Stop is a fantastic business! Everyone involved is extremely professional and very easy to communicate with. Chisam, the owner, did a great job of explaining the process to get the squirrels out of my attic during the initial free estimate. The exclusion crew who did all of the initial work was fabulous. The crew consisted of Phillip, Nick and Corey who arrived promptly when they said they would. They are happy, positive employees. Everyone is very polite and patient in explaining their work and answering questions. They came back several times to check the traps and finish it off with the fogging. Lester was very good about following up to schedule each trap check with me, and the office staff who took care of the billing was very efficient. Critter Stop is a well run company with honest, trustworthy employees! Thank you to all of you who worked hard to make my attic critter free and for the peace of mind that you guarantee your work. Great to know I can call them if for some reason a squirrel figures out a way to get back in!
