How To Prevent Birds From Nesting

Birds are a beautiful addition to any garden or backyard, but they can also be a bit too much when they start nesting in unwanted areas. Birds can cause damage to homes and other structures, as well as create unsanitary conditions with their droppings. Lucky for you, there are various ways to prevent birds from nesting at your home.

One effective way to prevent birds from nesting is to remove any existing nests and block off potential nesting sites. This can be done by sealing off any gaps or openings in the exterior of the home, such as vents or chimneys. Installing bird netting or spikes can also be effective in keeping birds away from certain areas. Take in consideration that it’s illegal to disturb active nests or harm birds, so it is best to remove nests during the off-season when birds are not nesting.

Another way to prevent birds from nesting is to make the area less attractive to them. Remove any food source, such as bird feeders or fruit trees, that may be attracting birds to the area. Having the area clean and free of any debris can also make it less appealing for birds to nest. By taking these preventative measures, homeowners can enjoy the beauty of birds without the hassle of unwanted nesting.

Assessing Potential Hazards

When assessing potential nesting areas, it is important to consider any hazards that may be present. For example, if birds are nesting in a gutter, this could cause water damage to the house. If birds are nesting in a chimney, this could create a fire hazard.

To prevent these hazards, it is important to take action to deter birds from nesting in these areas. Installing deterrents such as spikes or netting that can block off potential nesting spots with panels or other materials.

It is also important to consider the species of bird that is nesting in the area. Some species, such as swallows or pigeons, may require different types of deterrence methods than others. By identifying problem areas and taking the necessary steps to deter birds from nesting, homeowners can prevent potential damage to their homes and ensure a safe and healthy environment for both humans and birds alike.

I’d give a 10 star review if I could! We had a great experience with Critter Stop. Everyone I dealt was friendly, professional, and reassuring. Phillip was very helpful and knowledgeable about the work he was doing. He walked me around the entire house to make sure I saw and understood the services he provided. He was also really nice and answered all my questions — he is exactly the type of person that should be interacting with customers.I love the fact that they will come back for up to 1 year after installation if any problems occur — this shows me they stand behind their work. The owner was great too, he personally came to my house and walked me through their offering. I recommend critter stop to anyone and everyone!

Critter Stop is a fantastic business! Everyone involved is extremely professional and very easy to communicate with. Chisam, the owner, did a great job of explaining the process to get the squirrels out of my attic during the initial free estimate. The exclusion crew who did all of the initial work was fabulous. The crew consisted of Phillip, Nick and Corey who arrived promptly when they said they would. They are happy, positive employees. Everyone is very polite and patient in explaining their work and answering questions. They came back several times to check the traps and finish it off with the fogging. Lester was very good about following up to schedule each trap check with me, and the office staff who took care of the billing was very efficient. Critter Stop is a well run company with honest, trustworthy employees! Thank you to all of you who worked hard to make my attic critter free and for the peace of mind that you guarantee your work. Great to know I can call them if for some reason a squirrel figures out a way to get back in!
