Not all birds can be legally removed the same way. The federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act protects most native bird species, along with their active nests and eggs, and removing them without a permit is illegal. The main nuisance species that cause most residential and commercial problems, pigeons (rock doves), house sparrows, and European starlings, are non-native and specifically exempt from that protection. That's part of why working with a company that actually knows the regulatory distinction matters: removing the wrong bird's nest the wrong way isn't just bad practice, it can be a federal violation.
